How You Can Help...

Glantawe Lions Club Membership Drive Cheese & Wine Evening

lionlogo2c

Tuesday March 20th at 19.30 to the Clydach Community Centre, Vardre Road, Clydach.

Glantawe Lions Club has been helping individuals and groups in the Swansea Valley since 1973, almost 40 years. We have just completed a very hectic, but extremely rewarding Christmas period. We gave out nearly 100 food hampers to four hundred people throughout the Swansea Valley, we supported the Morriston Hospital Children’s Burns Unit Christmas Party, and over £3000 was raised from 4 Remembrance Trees of Light in Morriston, Clydach, Pontardawe and Ystradgynlais. We attended several supermarket collections, where we raised another £1000. All of the monies raised by the Lions goes back into the Swansea Valley Community, and helps major disasters worldwide.

To be able to undertake and complete the many varied projects throughout the year, requires willing volunteer members and helpers. At the moment the club has 17 Lion members, but needs to double that number if we are to have a successful 40th year in 2013.

We are looking for community minded men and women, over the age of 18, to join us. Come along to a free Wine and Cheese Evening on Tuesday March 20th at 19.30 at the Clydach Community Centre.

We will be showing a video, explaining the many varied activities that Lions members get up to throughout Great Britain. Many of the 17 Lions will be there to chat to you. There will be photographs and displays showing what Glantawe Lions has done in the Swansea Valley recently.

Being a member of Glantawe Lions is about helping our community, having great fun whilst doing it, having a good social life, making new friends and taking on new responsibilities. The life of the community benefits from Glantawe Lions, but we as members also benefit from the satisfaction that we get in helping the Swansea Valley community.

Want to know more, want a new challenge, and want some fun? Come along on Tuesday March 20th at 19.30 to the Clydach Community Centre and enjoy the free wine and cheese, and who knows you may like what you see.
